Step 1 – Create a New Photoshop Image File

Okay, to start, let’s create a new image file, go to the Menu bar and click File > New, and then input the following values on their respective fields:

Step 2 – Create the Hills

In this step, we will be creating the hills where the couple jumped to reach each other. To start, let’s open “Preikestolen 2” by zenpixel. Once the stock image is open, activate the Polygonal Lasso Tool (press L on your keyboard). We will use this to select the hill.

image007[6]

Now that it is activated, follow the instructions below on how to select the hill on stock image.

image008[6]

The selection area has now been created so activate the Move tool (V) and left-click the area that has been selected and drag that to our 3000×3000 canvas. Once you’ve done that, position it in the canvas as shown below:

Next, rename this layer to “Right Hill”. To rename a layer, simply double-click on the words: “layer 1” (that is the hill we had just moved) to prompt a text box to appear. Once that appears, you may now rename the layer.

Step 3

Now, activate the Transform tool (Ctrl/Cmd + T) and resize that hill as shown on the image below:

image011[6]

The result of that should be similar to this:

image012[6]

Step 4

Next, activate the Blur tool (R) because we would need to blur the edges of the hill to make it blend well with the other images.

image014[6]

Once activated, input the following settings for the Blur Tool (R):

  • Brush size: 175px
  • Hardness: 0%
  • Strength: 40%

Blur the highlighted region shown on the image below:

The result:

Step 5

Once that’s done, click on the “Right Hill” layer and then duplicate it (Ctrl/Cmd + J). Once duplicated, activate the Transform tool (Ctrl/Cmd + T) and right click on the canvas to bring up its contextual menu. Once the menu is active click on “Flip Horizontal” to make the duplicated layer face left; See image below:

After clicking “Flip Horizontal”, your canvas should be similar to this:
