Step 11

Select the cables part of the balloon to add to the area below the envelope. Use Ctrl+T to make the bottom of the cables a bit larger.

Step 12

Add a mask to this layer and use a hard black brush to remove the part on the right of the cables as it’s distorted after transforming.

Step 13

Take the basket and add it below the cables. After that, select the part besides the cables in the original image to add to the right of the cables in our working document.

Step 14

Select all balloon layers and hit Ctrl+G to make a group for them. Change the group’s mode to Normal 100% and make a Hue/Saturation adjustment to change the color of the balloon.

Step 15

Create a Color Balance adjustment layer and change the Midtones settings:

Step 16

Make a Curves adjustment and increase the lightness. On this layer mask, use a soft black brush to erase the right and shade areas of the balloon as we aim to make the main light source in the right of the front.

Step 17

Create another Curves adjustment layer to darken the left of the balloon more. Paint on the rest of the balloon to keep their lightness.

Step 18

Make a new layer above the envelope layer (set as Clipping Mask), change the mode to Overlay 100% and fill with 50% gray.

Activate the Dodge and Burn Tool (O) with Midtones Range, Exposure about 5-10% to refine the light and shadow of the envelope. You can see how I did it with Normal mode and the result with Overlay mode.

Step 19

Make a new layer above the cables layer, change the mode to Overlay 100% and fill with 50% gray. Use the Dodge Tool to bring more light to some details on the cables.

Step 20

Open the kitten 1 image and cut out the one on the left. Press Ctrl+J to paste the isolated cat into a new layer. Make a new Color Fill layer between the background and isolated one (I’ve chosen #1d1820).

Step 21

Make a new layer and use a small brush with the color #a19e9a to paint the missing furs around the cat’s body.

Step 22

Hide the background layer and the Color Fill one and hit Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E to merge all transparent layers. Move the merged layer into our main canvas and place the kitten onto the basket. Add a mask to this layer and use a hard black brush to hide the bottom part of the cat inside the basket.
